Upcoming diary for 2010 - trips already scheduled
May to June
It's Tiger time in Namibia on the famous Zambezi River. As the river level drops from the flood plains, tiny fish are forced back into the main part of the river, triggering the "Feeding Frenzies". Fly into Kasane in Botswana, take in the Big 5 on Safari or the Victoria Falls before the two hour drive into Namibia to Katimo Mulilo.
June
It's "Sardine Run Fever". This must not be missed - South African Beaches go wild as the predators of the ocean force the sardines onto the beach. Catch 400lb sharks from the beach!
August to November
It's Tiger time in Botswana on the Okavango River (the only river in the world that does not flow to the sea). Here the river is also dropping from the flood plains forcing tiny fish back into the river. Experience aerial assaults from over 200 species of birds, and aquatic attacks from Catfish (Barbel) during the "Barbel Run". These runs are also followed by crocodiles hunting the Catfish and, of course, scores of Tiger Fish. Fly into Maun in Botswana, take in the Big 5 on Safari before the four hour drive or one hour light aircraft flight to Shakawe or Sepupa in the Okavango Delta
November 2010 to February 2011
It's Shark season. As the Indian and Atlantic Oceans bordering southern Africa reach their warmest, the sharks move in looking for food. Fly into East London in South Africa or Walvis Bay in Namibia.
Some of your Options for a Farout Fishing Adventure
Option One - 7 or 14 Days River Fishing on the Mighty Zambezi in Namibia, or the Okavango in Botswana
For Namibia Tiger fishing fly from Johannesburg to Kasane, then drive two hours into Namibia. For Okavango Tiger fishing, fly from Johannesburg to Maun, then drive or fly deep into the Okavango Delta.
Truly an experience to remember - motoring up, or drifting down a truly wild African river. You will certainly see crocodiles, hippos, and all manner of birds and exotic wildlife, before catching plenty of rod-buckling Tigerfish.
We pride ourselves on tailoring our trips to your needs. Why not take a trip around the Okavango Delta in Botswana, or see the massive elephant herds in Chobe National Park, before heading up for some serious fishing?
Or leave the family enjoying the sight of the world famous Victoria Falls and local game parks while you head up for those tiger?
Option Two - 7 or 14 Days Beach or Boat fishing off the Namibian Coast in the Atlantic
Flying direct from Europe to either Windhoek (Namibia) or Johannesburg, then on to Walvis Bay. Travel across to the Skeleton Coast, and we'll get you hooked into some of the hardest fighting sharks you'll be able to land on rod and line anywhere in the world - Bronze Whalers. Average size of these sleek beauties is 60lb, rising to an arm-wrenching 200lb. Expect at least five a day, so it's best to prepare in the gym before your trip, or you could be in for a tough time!
Option Three - 7 or 14 Days Shore or Boat Fishing off the South African Coast in the Indian Ocean
After a one hour flight from Johannesburg to East London, travel up to the wild coast, and we'll get you hooked into some of the strongest Indian Ocean sharks - the Hammerhead and Ragged Toothed ("raggie"). Some of these sharks reach a staggering 400lb+. This type of fishing is not for the faint hearted, as you hop from rock to rock, ducking crashing waves.
Option Four - 5 or 10 days Carp / FIFA World Cup Football in South Africa
Take the opportunity to take in a World Cup game or two in Johannesburg while staying at the Africa Gold Carp Dam for a week or two. The carp are at their heaviest in May to August and come in up to 50lb.
Mix and Match options One to Four
Why not treat yourself to a mix and match featuring tiger fish, sharks, carp, and even a bit of football? All our trips are totally customisable, just let us know what you require and we'll do our best to make it work. Many people even like to take a few days off from the fishing (odd, we know) to visit friends and family in South Africa and we can adjust trips to suit.
Don't forget the World Cup!
The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be taking place on Johannesburg in June and July 2010. Why not take the chance to combine two of life's greatest pleasures - football and fishing?
